personality
If there's one thing you can say positively about Mordecai Bledsoe, it's that he's incredibly gifted at what he does- which is largely killing and/or tracking people down like dogs. He has the benefit of having very little attachment to much of anything if it doesn't have anything to do with that sweet, sweet cash. biography Born some time ago in a smaller village, Mordecai was raised by a human, single mother. She never had much to say about his father, who he had never met or much of anything, to be quite honest. But he did not really mind this, despite the loneliness he may have felt growing up on that little farm with only his taciturn mother for company, as the other villagers tended to keep away from them. Growing up, Mordecai heard all of the whispers about his lineage. It was obvious to everyone that whatever he was, he was not completely human. Those eyes he would grow to become ashamed of ensured this. This was one of the only things that could stir any sort of rise out his mother, was when he would ask about why he had them. She was not often a physical woman, but he discovered the quickest way to get her to being one was to bring it up. So, he stopped asking. When Mordecai was about ten or so, his mother married a man who had come into their dusty old village several months prior. A tall, dark and aging spellsword who was looking to settle down. He found that in Mordecai's mother and while initially hesitant to help raise a child, took it upon himself to take the vacant child under his wing. Mordecai's stepfather was everything he had craved in a paternal figure. He was strong and took shit from nobody. He was also looked upon others in a positive light, an attitude that was unexpected from someone who declared themselves as a member of their family, biological or not. Things began to change for Mordecai when he hit puberty, and the rumors of his heritage began to blossom once again. Except now, with the development of the ability to spit fire and desire to hoard shiny things couldn't be ignored any longer. Wanting some answers from his mother, he confronted her on the issue and threatened to leave and "find out for himself" if she wouldn't give him anything. His mother hardly budged, saying that his father was, "a handsome vagrant". It did not occur to Mordecai until sometime later that perhaps the reason his mother refused to tell him anything, was simply she herself didn't know much. But at the time, this was the final straw for a deprived fourteen year old and acted on his threat, and simply left. If it were not for the fact that his stepfather caught up with him, Mordecai was pretty sure he would never see his parents again. Instead, his stepfather struck up a deal with him. If he agreed to not leave home just yet, he would teach him what he could about surviving out there. In the end, Mordecai agreed after he pointed out that he would probably get mugged ten minutes outside of their village. Mordecai lived the next few years in almost an unhealthy amount of dedication to learning how to fight properly. His stepfather, while a talented swordsman and hand to hand combatant was not the best of teachers. He likes to boast that he is largely self-taught because of this, though there are simply somethings one can only learn through actual sparring with someone more skilled. His stepfather found that the best way to keep Mordecai's interest in training was to agree that when he was old enough, he would take him on one of the occasional jobs he would do to keep them afloat. And when Mordecai reached of age, he found to his dissatisfaction that he was still eager to go and with much reluctance, agreed to take him along. The job itself was not that big of a deal; but for a small town kid who had never really left the village, it was absolutely everything. Mordecai fell in love with the life within minutes of living it and afterwards, it was simply expected for him to come along, unless it was a particularly dangerous job. But as time grew on and on Mordecai's eighteenth birthday, he accompanied his stepfather on his first "serious" job, which was helping clear out a pack of bandits not too far away. While on the job however, his stepfather received a rather grizzly injury and after, was forced to retire. Mordecai however, kept on going and ran with the platoon for several years after his stepfather's retirement, making a bit of a name for himself in his own right. However, this soon too, grew all too dull and the pangs of desire to learn about his biological father resurfaced. So just after his twenty-second birthday, he left home in search of any sort of answers. His determination to uncover anything, while admirable, got him pretty much nowhere. On top of this, he was virtually broke and often in exchange for information, would do mercenary and messenger type jobs for brokers or people who claimed to have some sort of knowledge. This led to people actively seeking Mordecai to do jobs for them, which eventually put him at the doorstep of a small-time crime ring. He ran with them for awhile, mostly doing odd jobs and playing fetch for others. It was not until he managed to track down a spy in the ring that he became somewhat of a name that was known in some of the crime circles. While he swore no particular loyalty, he was often credited as being such for worshiping the almighty dollar to a point of devotion. He had not given up trying to find answers about his father, but as he grew older, it simply took a backseat to living his life. He'd follow up on leads when he got them, but more often than not, it came to nothing and led him back to square one. All Mordecai can be sure of is that his father was a dragon, and that he was most likely some kind of smuggler. Perhaps a pirate. Quite honestly, he's not sure he'll ever be able to find out what happened, even if he was still around. | ooc info ☆ NAME Cirice ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a ☆ FACE CLAIM dogs: bullets & carnage, giovanni rammsteiner, mordecai bledsoe THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO cirice.
